Mitigating Cultural Differences

The world is too much of a small place for clutter at work.

CultureFlow is a learning app designed to help mitigate challenges in global hiring due to cultural differences. The app aims to help new hires or people who started working with these new hires, by educating them on how to face the other person’s working culture.

What

CultureFlow was born from a very basic need: A person is new in a country and struggles at work due to cultural differences. How do we mitigate this?

HR leaders and talent partners

Expats

User journey

The main focus was to understand the different use cases and how we could create a tailored experience for each one.

The learning content varies depending on the use case, providing the information and resources that research identified as most important for each audience to successfully navigate and mitigate cultural differences in the workplace.

User flow & Low-fi Prototype

The first MVP prototype was developed around a single use case: the expat. Its purpose was to be tested in workshops with prospective users, allowing us to validate both the content and the overall experience before moving forward.

MVP

Stage 1

After several rounds of testing, iterating based on user feedback, and learning how these users could get the most value from the product, we launched Stage 1.

The product will now provide us with six months of real-world data and insights, which will be analysed to continue shaping and evolving the experience into a successful tool for navigating work and cultural differences.

As the app is only one part of the user journey towards mitigating cultural differences in the workplace, our research will continue across other dimensions. The goal is to develop a deeper understanding of this complex space, identify where users need support beyond the app, and uncover where additional tools or interventions could help them succeed.

The second screen prompts 'Let's get started' with a question 'Where are you from?' and options for country. The third screen shows a scenario description with options for a project team discussion. The fourth screen presents a score summary with a rating of four out of five stars and a 'Workshop' button.
